First-time property setup

The seven settings a new property needs before it can take a booking.

A brand-new property cannot take a reservation until SupremeStay knows what it is selling. Seven settings make up that minimum, and until all seven are filled in, a banner sits across the top of every page reading Missing general hotel settings with a Set up hotel settings button beside it.

The banner is the fastest way to find what is still outstanding: it stays until the last of the seven is done, and then disappears on its own.

The seven steps

Work through them in this order — each one depends on the one before it.

  1. General — the property name, country, time zone, currency, default language and logo, plus your tax details and the number the next reservation will be given. See General settings.
  2. Room types — the kinds of room you sell, with their occupancy. See Room types.
  3. Rooms — the actual rooms, each belonging to a room type. See Rooms.
  4. Rates — what a room type costs. Nothing can be priced until a rate exists. See Rates.
  5. Cancellation policy — the terms a booking is taken under. See Policies.
  6. Payment methods — how you accept money, each mapped to a transaction code. See Payment methods.
  7. Reservation source — where bookings come from (walk-in, phone, an OTA, your own booking engine). Every reservation must name one. See Reservation sources.

After the seven

These are not part of the banner check, but a property is not really ready without them:

  • Users — invite your staff and tick the right permissions for each of them. See User roles and access levels.
  • Taxes and fees — so charges are calculated correctly from the first booking. See Taxes and fees.
  • Extras — breakfast, transfers, anything sold on top of the room. See Extras.
  • Modules — housekeeping, transport, chat, restaurant POS and the rest are switched on individually in Settings → General, under System modules. A module that is off does not appear in the sidebar at all.

Turning modules on and off

Settings → General → System modules controls which parts of SupremeStay your property uses: sticky notes, housekeeping, transport, chat, shared resources, restaurant POS and competitor rates. Switching one off hides it everywhere; switching it back on restores it with its data intact.

The same page holds System behaviour options that change how staff work day to day, including whether online check-in is allowed from a mobile, whether rooms are set to dirty automatically when a guest checks in, and whether staff may move a reservation between statuses in an unusual order.
