Pre check-in

Letting guests check in from their phone before they arrive, and what the desk sees.

Pre check-in lets a guest fill in their own details from the guest app before they get to the property. The desk still completes the arrival, but the typing is already done — which is the difference between a two-minute welcome and a ten-minute one.

Switching it on

Pre check-in is controlled from Settings → General:

  • Allow online check-in using mobile — the master switch. With it off, the guest app never offers check-in.
  • Online check-in availability — how many days before the scheduled arrival the guest may start. Set to Not specified the option only appears on the day itself.

What the guest sees when they finish is set in Theme Settings → Check-In: a background image and the completion message. See Check-in experience.

What the guest does

  1. Opens the guest app for their booking.
  2. Confirms their personal details, identification and contact information.
  3. Answers anything you have added under Check-in questions on the booking engine.
  4. Submits — and sees your completion message.

What the desk sees

The reservation is flagged as pre check-in complete, and everything the guest entered is already on the reservation when you open it. Staff who subscribe to the Pre check-in completed event are notified the moment it happens — see Notifications.

The reservation does not move to Checked in by itself. Arrival is still a deliberate act at the desk: the guest is on Due in today until someone checks them in. That is on purpose — the room has to be ready, and the key still has to be handed over.
